IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir 2026: A Morning of Speed on the Souss Coast

Agadir hosted the second edition of IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir on Sunday 25 October 2026, and preliminary results show 872 athletes crossing the finish line on the city’s seafront.

Organisers had expected around 1,200 entrants from roughly 63 countries for the race, which sold out. The event is backed by the Wilaya of the Souss-Massa Region, the Souss-Massa Regional Council, the Commune of Agadir and the Regional Tourism Council, as part of a wider push to make the city a destination for international sport and tourism.

The course

The race follows the classic 70.3 format: 113 km of racing split across three disciplines, all starting and finishing in Agadir.

  • Swim, 1.9 km: a single loop in the bay of Agadir, which is sheltered by the curve of the coastline and usually calm.
  • Bike, 90 km: one loop that leaves the city centre for the Berber hinterland, rolls through hills and valleys at the foot of the Atlas, and reaches the surf town of Taghazout. Elevation gain is estimated at 750–900 m.
  • Run, 21.1 km: a flat, fast three-loop half marathon along the seafront promenade, between the marina and the beach.

A young race with big ambitions

IRONMAN named Agadir as a new host city in May 2025, and the first edition took place on 26 October 2025, replacing IRONMAN 70.3 Tangier on the calendar. That inaugural race awarded 60 qualifying slots for the 2026 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice.

This year’s edition offers about 50 slots for the 2027 World Championship, to be held on 28–29 August 2027 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, split equally with 25 for women and 25 for men. Agadir also sat in a busy North African autumn, coming a week after IRONMAN 70.3 Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt on 16 October. Race weekend included the IRONKIDS event and an “Octobre Rose” night run.

Standout performance: Aziz Haddaj

Aziz Haddaj finished second overall in 4:02:18, winning the M40–44 age group and beating all but one of the 872 finishers, according to preliminary results.

He was first of 101 in his age group and second of 705 men. Starting at 6:45 am, he crossed the line at 10:47 am.

Averaging over 40 km/h on a hilly bike course, then running a 1:15 half marathon, is exceptional for any athlete, let alone one in their forties. His age-group win should put him in line for a 2027 World Championship slot, subject to the slot allocation.

The winner

the winner of IRONMAN 70.3 Agadir 2026 was French triathlete Amandin Colvray, with a finishing time of 3:53:16.
